Welcome and opening prayer

Minutes of meeting 31st July accepted no changes.

Ongoing actions:

Peter to discuss with Maureen parish dates update to Web-site, etc.

BF to organise Stephen Morgan to give a sermon on Stewardship.

JE,EM,BF and Fr. Re Anglican doctor Davies and Ministry to Older People. Action withdrawn.

BF to draft a note on the homeless situation in Newbury.

Russian singers visit.

Adverts launched and requests for accommodation. £10 each proposed to include half time refreshment of a glass of wine.

Report from PAPC

29th June ’08 set as date for PA celebration and Volunteers are needed to organise.

PA comms’ group aim to publish 1st newsletter in October. PA strategic liturgy has Shany Middleton as our parish rep’. 11 th Oct is Leadership presentation at Tilehurst. Next PAPC meeting 17th October.

CIS bookstall is a ministry for someone to do. No Catholic helpers at the Newbury show rest tent which we should do something about.

Pastoral Development

The Liturgy group will concentrate on managing the detail of First Communion, Journey in Faith and Confirmation preparation. An update was given by Margaret.

Father suggested Visitation as a Parish Ministry. Options for developing Sunday morning worship to include an earlier Mass followed by Parish activities/ meetings/ meal were also aired.

PC membership

Extending the membership of this group to include a representative of 20-30 age group was discussed and members are to consider nominations. Perhaps members of the bidding prayers list would be suitable. Opportunities for the under 20’s to contribute were also discussed.

Parish Diary

In order for this committee to oversee the whole Parish activity it was agreed to consider the diary of the Parish at each meeting and to take initiatives when gaps appeared or certain activities needed organising. The diary to end Jan08 was discussed in detail and Peter took the notes away to update the web site.

Margaret to see Shany about All Hallows Eve for the children this year before Mass.

Mill Hill red box collection. Eleanor to pursue the one volunteer.

Ann reported she has one possible candidate for Landings.
