Parish Activities - RCIA (Journey in Faith)
 |
Bringing the "Good News" alive
in the modern world … |
The letters “RCIA” stand for the “Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults”, the document flowing from Vatican
II which guides the process by which adults are initiated into
our Roman Catholic community. The RCIA describes a process in which
men and women are guided and cared for as they awaken in faith
and are gradually introduced to the Catholic way of life.
The RCIA (also referred to as Journey in Faith) draws its model
from the “catechumenate” of the ancient Church. The
vision of the rite is that it is centred in the parish community – so
that altogether we walk this ‘Journey in Faith’ with
those interested in becoming Catholics.
Candidates celebrating this Journey are
accompanied by their sponsors and assisted with a parish team of
five people who take turns in preparing the fortnightly meetings.
We ask for your prayers and support for all involved in this important
path to discovery and Faith.
If you would like to find out more about this process, or you
know a non-Catholic friend who is interested in the Church, please
contact the Parish Priest.
