Parish Activities - St Vincent de Paul Society
For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and
you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you made me welcome; naked
and you clothed me, sick and you visited me, in prison and you came
to see me. (Matthew 25 : 35 - 36)

SVP The Society of St Vincent de Paul is an international
Catholic Organisation of lay people founded in Paris in 1833 by
Frederick Ozanam and his companions. Placed under the patronage
of St Vincent de Paul, it is inspired by his thinking and his works.
It seeks, in a spirit of justice and charity, to help those who
are suffering. It does this by a person-to-person involvement of
its members.
Faithful to the spirit of its founders, it renews
itself and adapts to the changing conditions of the world.
Catholic in character, it is open to all who wish to live their
faith by loving their neighbour in the person of the needy.
This parish works together with St Joseph's, the other Catholic
parish in Newbury to form a combined group who work throughout Newbury
irrespective of the home parish of its members.
