St Francis de Sales - Wash Common

Music Group

Welcome to the Music Group area.

****************************************************************

In the Wash Common parish we have no less than TWO music entities in the parish - one is called 'The Choir' and the other is called 'The Music Group'.

SINGING THE MASS: If you wish to help lead the singing at 11.00am Mass the Choir is not a closed shop! We meet weekly, usually on a Wednesday evening, to rehearse for Sundays and for some feast days. Iit would be lovely to have some new voices, maybe even some younger ones. Please speak to any choir member after Mass or telephone Clare Huckle on 550428.

'The Music Group' consists of a wide range of musicians and singers who play once a month at the Sunday 11am Mass. Everyone is welcome to join us - there is no age limit - and all instruments and singers are very welcome.

Hyacinth Cobb runs the group and she organises the music and rehearsals. We rehearse once a month at Hy's house, also an hour before the Sunday Mass. The instruments played are: keyboard, recorder, flute, oboe, clarinet, alto sax, violin, viola, cello, djembe and occasional tenor sax and drum kit, although if you play another instrument we would almost certainly be able to fit you in somehow !

The St Francis de Sales Music Group plans to meet in a more informal way this year. We will only have one practice of 1¼ hours before we play at Mass once a month. This will usually be the 4th Sunday of the month. We would like to open up the group to all. If you enjoy singing or can play an instrument and feel like helping out with the music for the Mass, then turn up for the practice which will be advertised in the newsletter.
For more information either ring Hy Cobb on 01635 569322 or catch Hy, Patrick Dundas or Jim Kay at the end of mass at the weekend.
