Liturgy

It is the servers privilege to assist the priest and people in the celebration of the liturgy of the Mass. This is one of the most rewarding and specialised ministries in the church.

One of the most humbling ministries is that of helping to distribute the Blessed Sacrament at Communion during the Mass. Ministers also take Communion to the sick and housebound at a time that is mutually convenient but usually after a celebration of the Eucharist.

The ministry of the word calls us to be servants of the Living Word of God. In proclaiming the readings at liturgy, the reader does more than simply read. This is a sacred task of a high order into which only those who are sufficiently qualified are permitted to read.
